Dedicated Servers will need to be updated for 1.10

When GameSpy shuts down their Master Server on May 31, there will no longer be a lobby for dedicated servers that are still using 1.09 or older server code (unless that server code has been specifically modded to use the new Master Server). 

In fact even before that happens, Bungie will release the final version of 1.10 and most players will update their Halo client. And that's when they will no longer see any servers that haven't already updated/migrated to the new Master Server.

If you manage your own dedicated server then you'll need to migrate it to 1.10 server code (or perhaps apply a mod that migrates your server to the new Master Server).

If your Halo server is hosted and fully managed by a game server company, then they will need to make that change for you.

Let's use this topic to discuss the various ways to get your server updated/listed on the new Master Server. And in the case of fully managed servers, let's share any news of how and when those game server companies may be planning to get their servers updated.

On Monday the 19th players will start getting prompted to autoupdate. So it's time to get serious about migrating your servers to the new Master Server and version 1.10.

If you manage your own servers then check on the status of your favorite mod and/or start thinking about changing your executable over to 1.10.

If your servers are fully managed by a hosting company (meaning you can't change the server executable file yourself) then talk to the company's tech support about when they can update you to 1.10.

Today I had the opportunity to speak with the top guy at NFO (John) and explained that some of his customers with fully managed game servers or managed VDS servers will be wanting to update to 1.10 over the next couple of weeks. Within the hour he had added a feature to their control panel that allows those customers to change from 1.09 to 1.10 (or back again) on their own at any time.

gameservers.com added a self-serve option as well, after I talked to them. I imagine they did it for everyone, not just me

If some of you have not heard of it, halopcservers.com will have the option soon to update to 1.10 and currently you can also do it yourself if you wish.

It appears www.gameservers.com didn't correctly add their update feature (my server is still listed as 1.09). I will contact them about the issue and post an update here ASAP.

[EDIT] Strange, when I re-applied the patch using the same self-serve feature as before, it worked. Server hosts using gameservers.com should check their version using a SAPP command (/info) or by typing in http://classic.xfire.com/servers/halo/[server ip]:[port]
